Husk gets Hardwired

The Attitude presenters over at Parents Inc. work such wonders with teenagers that we had no problems jumping at the opportunity to redesign their latest Hardwired booklet. With a jam-packed 54 pages about 'growing, inhaling and injecting life’, this booklet is full of helpful stories about addictions, drugs and alcohol. The new ‘Brain Theft Auto’ section compares the world of drug use to the world of video games, taking the user from the first hit through to possible doom in the life of a drug addict. This book is a must have for teenagers (and their parents!). Cover art by Attitude.

Environmental law looks good!

We Huskies have a particular love of things sustainable, environmental and efficient. Working with Auckland lawyer Vernon Rive (who specialises in environmental, resource management and public law) to put together his branding, stationery, website and blog was thus an exciting and synergetic project for us. Vernon's stationery boasts vegetable-based inks and recycled stocks - yummy yummy - and we believe both his new website and blog are going to become key discussion centres for the industry. Vernon Rive helps make the world a better place and if you need a green lawyer, he's your man!

Lanterns of Hope

One of our favourite moments during Christmas just gone was putting together our client Christmas campaign called 'Lanterns of Hope'. We assembled packages of 'amazing flying lanterns' and sent them to our clients around the country to release to the heavens on New Years' Eve with their hopes for the 2010 year. The lanterns made for many beautiful, biodegradable and fun experiences and we've heard heaps of stories. Now we just need the rest of the footage for our Husk 'Lanterns of Hope' short film. Well not quite, but deep in the west of semi-rural Auckland (Waimauku) is a team of friendly and clever GPs who have set up the brand new Silver Fern Medical Centre. Amid the chaos and deadlines of the clinic construction, we worked with husband and wife GP team Marc and Lois Paton to pull together a new identity, stationery, signage and a website. Highlights of the practice include free mole checks, an on-site pharmacy and a 24/7 on-call service to registered patients! If you get pummelled in the Muriwai surf, try one too many clever tricks at Woodhill, or are keen on a new, family-oriented practice, then drop in and check out their new digs.

We loved working with them this Christmas to help them tell the real story of Christmas across the radio stations...through the eyes (and sugar cravings) of six-year-old Elliot. From appeal envelopes, posters and fabulous illustrations from Innie, to powerpoint slides and website updates, we definitely got our festiveness on for this appeal!

New Leprosy Mission website goes live

Our design overhaul of both the structure and look and feel of The Leprosy Mission New Zealand’s website, in conjunction with the fine lads at Gorilla has nearly been completed. Their website, popular with members near and far, has thus seen an overhaul in design and functionality to reflect their new vision and direction. inTOUCH magazine redesign

The Leprosy Mission's inTouch magazine has had a little bit of a makeover with the first new-look issue flying out the studio door this month. The magazine is full of wonderful stories about lives being changed through the incredible work of The Leprosy Mission both locally and around the world. Several worlds collided and taa-daa - mid-February saw Natalie Fejos came on the scene! Moving on from the magazine industry, she jumped at the chance to join the team and has already mastered the Monday morning coffee order and the ways of home-baked carrot cake bribery. Netball New Zealand Annual Report 2009

But, backed by Netball New Zealand, the national game of netball has become so much more. Husk are proud to have designed NNZ's latest Annual Report covering their 2008-9 achievements, teams, tests and highlights and of course, the financial side of the sport. We love our girls at NNZ and enjoyed putting this Annual Report together to show their best work off. more

Thread Goes Live for Fashion Week

The Thread website, a joint project between Megan @ Thread, Husk (design and build) and Godzone (content management), was a long time in the making but worth the wait! Launched just in time for Air New Zealand Fashion Week, Thread has made an impressive first-run down the catwalk. The website features thousands of articles discussing everything from who's wearing what, when and where to news and reviews on major NZ music, fashion, culture and beauty-related events. With site content driven by 'CMS Made Simple', Megan manages polls, slideshows, articles, competitions and more, producing a dynamic site that's got it all - and not just for the NZ fashionistas. Even a style-challenged hoody-lover like myself found several articles engrossing! Get threaded.
