CITIZEN PARK

http://citizenpark.co.nz/

Since its inception, this local favourite has never failed to disappoint. We were shocked that , despite recurrent visits over the years, our last husk lunch review here was 2013… 5 freaking years ago – unacceptable. However, we can vouch that Citizen Park has remained consistent all this time and not in the boring way that sounds. The crowd pleasers – brisket nachos and burgers – are still piled high, while new items like Mel’s panfried blue nose with cauliflower and truffle puree were simply divine. For those who want something a bit more low-fi, Bri’s fried cheese number got us all scrambling for a piece (sorry Bri). The sun streaming into the courtyard is a welcome addition and at the bar… They. Have. Margarita. Slushies. Why isn’t the weekend here already?

Louise had the Half Dry Rub Smoked Pork Ribs and drank a American Float with Coke (I know, right?!). She said “Waitress great and very accommodating, very generous portion of ribs though BBQ sauce very overpowering. Awesome sunny spot though and excellent for people watching #bringonsummer”

Katie had the Beef Brisket Nachos. She said “Been here multiple times and it’s always been great — good portions, legit drinkies options and good beats. Love this place!”

Mel had the Blue Nose with kumara rosti and cauliflower truffle puree and drank a Pineapple Juice. She said “The fish was awesome, very fresh and paired with a good selection of veges to balance the dish. It was quite a hot day so finding a table out of the sun was fab, there is always plenty of atmosphere and activity going on here.”

Bri had the Fried Cheese with a selection of halloumi and ricotta dumplings, toasted cauliflower, chicory, honeyed walnuts & rhubarb. She said “Really great salad with two different types of cheeses, would definitely get it again. Fun outdoor atmosphere with lots of sun.”
