DOMAIN AYR

facebook.com/domainayrcafe/

Tucked inside an unassuming corner on Parnell Road rests ‘Domain Ayr’, a cool little spot where Huskies were fascinated with their homemade lemon-honey ginger (they even had a whole cinnamon stick in it), their cool shelving, the random adventuring required to find the bathrooms and the whimsical bicycle on the wall. We then proceeded to hypothesise on joining the #100daysnz project and Round 2 of Living Below the Line, as well as brainstorming cafe names and how to become Instagram legends. In summary, this cosy cafe is a nice place to daydream and get the juices flowing.

Louise had the organic beef burger and Dr Libby’s green dream smoothie. She said, ‘Enjoyed the little décor touches including the kauri wall oldskool scrim vibe, the condiment boxes and the garden implements. Easy parking. Weird loo.’

Innie had the benedict with bacon and a fresh lemon and ginger tea. She said, ‘cold day + fresh lemon ginger tea = happiness.’

Katie had the beef burger with organic ground beef, mustard, cheese, tomato and greens with pumpkin chips. She said, ‘Burger was not very surprising, pumpkin chips were not ‘chips’ as suggested (crunchy) but rather chargrilled, which is rather nice. Beef was a bit dry.’

Joe had the rancheros. He said, ‘Good vibe, relaxed personable staff ‘ somewhere I’d definitely go again.’

Annie had the benedicts – woodhaven fresh baby spinach, soft free-range eggs, house-made hollandaise, hand-made haloumi & house-made pesto with a berry smoothie. She said, ‘The flavours were very good, beautifully smooth hollandaise. I don’t know why they decided I didn’t want ciabatta though, it would have been much nicer with it.’
