Their round sign has always peered at us each time we zoomed down New North Road – Innie-the-hawk-eye (second only to eagle-eye-lou aka proof-reading-genius) was the first to notice. And what a perfect place to settle in on another hay-wire Friday.
The tapas bar and cafe features a narrow configuration of stairs and tables, which made for an interesting set-up as we squeezed into a booth that uses stylish step-ladders as seating, we even found this comfy cushion which is a rendition of Bruno, their mascot doggie (sadly we never crossed paths).
What we really loved, though – was the affable and efficient service. The waitress was pleasantly relaxed as we discussed our orders and picked our sweets for the arvo; thanks Grano, keen as to return for some Friday-night tapas.
Louise had the Creamy Mushrooms on Toast with bacon and basil pesto and a Decaf Mocha. She said 'Appreciated the waitress accommodating our group of five by moving another customer(!) and also getting Reuben's meal underway zappily. Bit underwhelmed with the food, though the distraction of my grumpy 4yo may have interfered with the carefree enjoyment of my meal. Read: shovelled it in.'
Innie had the Potato Gnocchi with with pumpkin in lemon dressing and a Latte. She said 'Nice. Simple. Modern. Elegant. Stylish!'
Katie had the Lamb Shank Pie. She said 'Love the industrial pendant lights (when do I not) - and the floral feature wall decal is repeated on the website and business card - brand consistency, ah. Oh, and the pie was alright.'
