Wandering down a steep slope led us to Mondays — a petite, vine-covered beauty serving a generous menu of whole foods and smackerlicious smoothies. If “Coconut expresso delight made with coconut sugar syrup, vanilla coconut ice-cream, organic milk and a touch of cinnamon” isn't enough to tantalise your tastebuds, then perhaps their salad bowls will — think pearl barley, herby marinated mushrooms and crunchy sesame kale chips. Yes, it's a change from the usual fried potatoes and pork belly, but there's little to criticise. Slight glitch with an onslaught of thunder and heavy splatter of rain which left us cowering under the shades, but everything cleared up just in time for us to enjoy the food (albeit packed into takeaway boxes) on their circular mosaic tables. Little bird's finally met their match. Shhh. Don't tell ‘em we said that.
Louise had the spiced morrocan bowl and a banana chocolate fudge smoothie. She said 'I can't wait for them to develop the area more fully so there is more space and more tables. Every time I have visited, I have been frustrated by no seats available – the one downside of being too good at what you do. I enjoyed the bowl – the avocado and the barley mix particularly – but it was far outshone by my incredible smoothie. Highly recommend those – worth every cent of $9.50.'
Innie had the ham toastie and an ice espresso. She said 'Oh yes! Finally – healthy food that actually pleases my tastebuds!'
Katie had the beautiful buddha bowl with herbed black quinoa, pumpkin, avo dipped in Egyptian spices with kale salad and a co-aqua coconut water. She said 'I couldn't put down my fork! Loved the generous servings & was stuffed, satisfied and healthy(!)'
Joe had the spiced morrocan bowl and a banana chocolate fudge smoothie. He said 'Feels like a bit of a hidden gem.'
Annie had the vegan rye sourdough toastie and a goodness green smoothie. She said 'The smoothie was the best! It was a little bit of a buzz kill that the rubbish bins were so close to the tables, and flies everywhere landing on you and your food.'
