PARKSIDE CAFE

facebook.com/Parkside-Cafe-Vietnamese-cuisine-101269123294454/

Parkside has been growing in popularity slowly and steadily with the Mt Albert locals and, with the recent introduction of their Vietnamese menu, we thought it was high time to pay them another visit.

The service is always welcoming and prompt, the food yummy, the coffee hot and well made and, of course, we enjoy that it takes about 2 minutes to get there from Husk. The lunch menu is an eclectic mix of typical cafe fare, all day breakfast and then the authentic Vietnamese dishes thrown in. We haven’t tried dining at night yet but apparently the transformation into a Vietnamese eatery makes Parkside a popular haven day and night.

And they have to be stoked with their location. Parkside is… well… as the name suggests… parkside, nicely set alongside one of the most loved Mt Albert hotspots – Rocket Park. Many a mum can be seen wandering between the park and the cafe, kids in tow, caffeine fix in hand. Chuck in road frontage on busy New North Road and a bus that stops right outside the door, and their target market is literally on their doorstep.

And… did we mention they sell Allpress Coffee? By the cup, the 250gsm pouch or the ridiculously large 5kg(?) bag that we always eye up but have no room for dammit.

Louise had the Wok-Seared Spicy Lemongrass Chicken Salad with Mesclun, Bean Sprouts & Cucumber and a Mocha. She said ‘Ange is a brilliant waitress and it was good to see her again from our Okra days. Funny, cheeky and always super-helpful. Love, love, loved my salad though was surprised it came with a lot of undeclared peanuts on the top (which I am mildly allergic to). Bit of a faux pas these days to leave something like that out of the menu description, but delicious nevertheless.’

Innie had the Pumpkin Risotto and a Latte. She said ‘Very rich and perfect balance of sweet and savoury. Can’t wait to try their dinner menu!’

Katie had the Chicken Pho. She said ‘Interesting blend of vietnamese and western cuisine, the soup was clear but a little too salty for my taste – would go again though!’
