MISS CLAWDY

www.missclawdy.co.nz/

We know you’ve probably heard of this place at Wynyard Quarter before. Serving Central & South American cuisine, Miss Clawdy’s had a heaving crowd even since its opening and our 2 cents will only be a drop in the ocean of glowing reviews. Today’s a little different though — following the Thanksgiving festivities, they’ve struck a deal no Aucklander could say no to – bring in two canned foods and they’ll serve you up with a slice of their Whittaker’s Chocolate Tart! All of these cans were donated to the Auckland City Mission. Pretty clever to follow up with it after the Whittaker’s Chocolypse. What can we say… our plates inspired squealing from our inner chocoholics, neighbouring tables as well as our arteries… keep the good comin’ Miss Clawdy – we won’t stop till we can’t see our toes.

Louise had, holy heck – what didn’t she have? Mainly the Ceviche, but also a bite of the jerk chicken, the orange-zest kumara, the rocket salad, the corn chips with guacamole. Oh, and the Whittakers Thanksgiving pie. Dude. She drank a mocha. She said ‘Miss Clawdy’s was heaving but that didn’t prevent super-prompt and friendly service, fast and yummy food that was tasty, healthy and fresh and super-smiley waitresses. The Whittakers treat was to die for – silky, smooth, rich.’

Katie had the kingfish ceviche w coconut, tomato, red onion, shallots & coriander (and all the sides). She said ‘The ceviche was light and fresh, that didn’t save me from the decadent choc tart though Bruce said we all look fatter as we came back to the studio, he’s probably right.’

Mel had the southern fried jerk chicken w chipotle & lime mayo, and a taste of everything else on the table! She drank a cranberry juice. She said ‘Wow what an awesome mix of flavours, glad I went with 5 people so we could try each others dishes. Big thumbs up for the charity gig, I would gladly give a couple of cans to charity, but to receive the most delicious whittakers chocolate pie in return . AMAZING!’

Joe had the Gumbo and a blood orange soda. He said ‘Great food, great service, great décor. Allround rad place’

Annie had the baby beetroot goat’s curd quinoa salad and nibbles of the shared dishes. She said ‘The quinoa was completely lacking flavour, disappointingly, the beetroot was just the tinned kind. Everything else was yummy and the chocolate tart was rich and dense… amazing.’
