MORNINGSIDE TAVERN

https://www.morningsidetavern.co.nz/

Part of our epic neighbourhood line up is the Tavern, boasting a huge outside seating area with festoon lights and comfy indoor furnishings, this is the place for a hearty meal. We marvelled at the huge fabric mural and the retractable projector screen (for those game days, no doubt). They had what you’d call good, honest bar food — woodfired pizzas, beer-friendly nibbles and meat dishes. There’s also some interesting selections like the lamb cutlet and eggplant parma that we’d love to try some time. Katie is currently plotting her next brainstorm session by hiding in one of their upstairs leather couches. Beer may or may not be involved.

Katie had the Tandoori Chicken with red cabbage slaw and naan. She said “Ah — bar food — my happy placeeee.”

Mel had the Morningsider Burger with chicken, bacon, onion chutney, black garlic aioli & shoe-string fries. She said “Big serving sizes for those who like a big meal. Spacious and fabulous location … would be a great place for watching a game on the big drop down screen with friends.”

Bri had the “Do Gooder” Pizza with zucchini, spinach, capsicum, mushroom, olives & feta. She said “Friendly service, and good selection of pub-style food with very generous sizes. Unfortunately they ran out of the Eggplant Parma which I was really keen to try.”

Jeffrey had the Buffalo Wings and the Confit Duck Breast with horse radish Mash, red berry & balsamic Jus . He said “Duck was a bit dry. Buffalo wings were not very tasty without the BBQ sauce.”

Phil had a Wood-fired Pizza with tomato, cheese, bacon, ham, chicken, salami & garlic and drank a Pale Ale. He said “Nice place for lunch and food was nice. So over it was nice… yes nice.”
