Bambina Ponsonby
Bambino Ponsonby is just a few minutes’ stroll from our QB office, perfect for one of our Husk lunch excursions. With so many tasty spots along Ponsonby Road, it’s a solid contender when we’re hunting for a good bite (and a bit of office escape). The space is light, open and airy, a nice little breather from the workday grind and the plates that land on the table look like they’ve been styled for a photoshoot. We gave the tuna and chicken salads a go (a tad heavy on the lettuce, but hey, we’re getting our greens in), along with a risotto and a creamy sausage and mushroom pasta that felt like the sort of comforting dish you want to curl up with on a rainy day.
And just to make the afternoon a little sweeter, we couldn’t resist grabbing a couple of their takeaway lamingtons and a cinnamon brioche to share, the perfect thing to look forward to with a cuppa back at the office when we inevitably hit the afternoon slump!
Total spend – 4 people – $131.00
Louise had the tuna avo salad and drank a cucumber, mint and apple juice. She said, “Probably will come back given its proximity to work but was insanely underwhelmed with the salad. It looked amazing, plated well but was sadly bland. All fur coat and no undies. Excited about the lamingtons for afternoon tea though.”
Mel had the sausage and mushroom pasta. She said, “My pasta dish was super creamy and full of flavour. Just the right portion size too, any more and the team might have had to roll me out the door.”
Sam had chicken salad. He said, “Really nice looking menu and food was presented well but my chicken salad was basically just chicken and loads of lettuce. I would go back for a coffee and a treat though.”
Sarah had prawn risotto. She said, “This spot is super handy for us in Ponsonby. It has a lovely light atmosphere with plenty of seating. The risotto was delicious and perfectly cooked, and the service was warm and welcoming.”
