Itameshi
Japanese and Italian might not sound like the most obvious pairing, but Itameshi makes a pretty convincing case for why they belong together. Tucked away on Williamson Ave, this beautifully designed café and bistro blends Japanese precision with Italian comfort food in a way that somehow just works. From the torched salmon soba and wagyu steak don to the okonomiyaki omelette, every dish looked as good as it tasted. The karaage caesar was a standout too, proving salads don’t always have to play second fiddle. Fair warning though, the portions are generous, so arriving hungry is highly recommended.
The fit-out almost deserves its own review. Warm, calm and just the right amount of boujee, it’s the kind of space designers can’t help but admire between mouthfuls. Friendly service and thoughtful attention to dietary requirements made the experience even better, while the iced sesame almond latte and fancy lemonade were worthy sidekicks to an already impressive lunch. Being self-appointed foodies comes with responsibilities, so naturally we’ll be back to sample everything we didn’t order this time. It’s a hard job, but someone’s got to do it 😉
