Juno
It was time for a visit to Grey Lynn today to check out the polished and effortlessly cool place, Juno. Tucked into the sleek Greenhouse building on Williamson Avenue, this spot is the latest venture from the duo behind Omni, John Yip and Jamie Yeon. Their vision? To create a space that offers “just simple and classic things done well” and they’ve nailed it.
The vibe inside is like stepping into a high-end hotel lobby—calming duck egg blue walls, white tiles, walnut accents and soft lighting. It’s all designed by renowned interior designer Katie Lockhart and it shows. Whether you’re there for a quick coffee or settling in for a leisurely brunch, the atmosphere is both relaxed and refined.
The menu is a delightful mix of European-inspired dishes with a Kiwi twist. Standouts include the seeded toast tartine topped with smoked salmon, egg and dill labneh, and the tuna crudo with green gazpacho. For something sweet, the house-made nut granola with pear butter is a must-try. The offerings change with the seasons, ensuring there’s always something fresh and exciting to sample.
Of course, no café experience is complete without a great coffee. Juno’s signature drink is the Vienna—an iced long black infused with orange peel syrup and topped with sweet whipped cream. It’s a refreshing and unique take on your usual coffee order.
Whether you’re popping in for a morning pick-me-up or settling in for a leisurely lunch, Juno is a spot that feels both special and down-to-earth, making it a standout in Grey Lynn’s vibrant café scene.

Louise had the heirloom tomato toast tartine and drank an ice peppermint decaf mocha. She said, “Loved the aesthetic, the flavour, the plating, the light, the windows, the green tiles. Will be back to try everything else on the menu.”
Mel had the salmon pate and egg on seedy toast and drank an orange juice with a decaf expresso shot. She said, “Well I have to say Juno hit all the right spots for me today, sleek and sophisticated, minimal and calming. With the food and drink options I ordered being totally delish! I experimented with the orange juice with a decaf expresso shot, I was feeling a little adventurous today … I was not at all disappointed. It reminded me of the orange and burnt caramel kinda taste but ice cold, sounds weird and it delightfully was. I’d order again.”
Sarah had the curried egg salad toast and drank an English breakfast tea. She said, “What a beautiful space! It is so minimal but flawlessly executed, just like their menu. The toast I had had very yummy flavours. Would come back just for the vibes.”
