Mother
Lunch at Mother felt like stepping into a sleek little European hideaway right in Grey Lynn. The salads stole the show, with the harissa roasted cauliflower and broccolini combos packing plenty of flavour, texture and all the tangy goodness you could hope for. Generous serves meant no one left feeling short-changed, and the iced lattes and mochas made for a nice little pick-me-up in the sunshine. It’s the kind of spot that makes you want to linger, even if your stomach is telling you to get back to work.
The fit-out is super cool and the vibe is effortlessly chill, with plenty of potential for buzzing nights once the sun goes down. Perfect for a quick coffee, a light lunch or just to show off your salad snob credentials to anyone watching. We’ll definitely be back to try more, and we can’t wait to see what the bread-based options are like—they looked absolutely irresistible.
Louise had 1/2 a cauliflower salad & 1/2 a broccolini salad with Mel. She said, “Love these salads, they are my new fave. Fresh, tangy, textured, interesting, delicious and generous = all boxes ticked!”
Mel had 1/2 a cauliflower salad & 1/2 a broccolini salad with Lou and drank an iced latte. She said, “This place is sleek, atmospheric and the salads we tried were top notch. Such great flavour combinations!! I will definitely be back for more.”
Sam had the Harissa roasted cauliflower salad and drank an iced mocha (nice drinking experience). He said, “Really nice new spot and a really nice place for a coffee and a treat to grab on the go or sit outside in the sun.”
Sarah had the Harissa roasted cauliflower salad. She said, “Mother is definitely the place to be in Auckland right now. Being gluten-free makes it a bit harder to enjoy to the fullest. It’s tough for someone who loves bread, but bread doesn’t love them back! The salad was yum though, and the fit-out is super cool. It will have great vibes at night time.”
