Atomic

Atomiccoffee.co.nz

If you’re looking for the most highly-trusted stalwart of coffee magic, look no further than the heart of Kingsland. The cats at Atomic know how to roast and brew a mean cup of black gold. Long before the newbies hit the coffee roasting scene, Atomic’s been serving consistently good, high quality coffee and, impressively, they also pull off equally good food alongside. This cosy and very welcoming gem of a cafe is both great on a cold wet day when you can tuck up yourself inside and smell all the delicious aromas, or on a hot sunny day, the outside tables inviting you to people-watch while catching the vit D.  The menu provides both hearty and nutritionally good options, but if it’s just a coffee to go with a little treat on the side, their cabinet selections are always a bit of delight for the buds!  A long time favourite, Atomic will have many more visits to follow.

Total spend – 4 people – $137.10

Louise had winter vegetable fritters with a side of bacon.  She said, “I always enjoy the vibe and the people watching at Atomic – great aesthetic. Today’s food was a little below par for my experience of Atomic (fritters only mildly warm and the tahini overpowered the dish) but, being the go-to for Kingsland coffee, I always come back. I’ll consider today their hall pass and try again next time.”

Mel had the winter vegetable fritters with a side of bacon and drank a turmeric, ginger, apple cold pressed juice. She said, “Atomic always seems to be a great cafe, excellent coffee (love that they roast their own on site), yum dine in food options and the cabinet sweets are really delish – the ginger crunch is supper gingery, just how I like it!  If I’m in Kingsland this will always be a favourite spot for me.”

Sam had the smashed avo on sourdough and drank a turmeric, ginger, apple cold pressed juice.  He said, “Super nice lunch/coffee spot. Lots of sun and comfortable seating inside. Really nice, well-designed cafe and the food was awesome too. Well priced and everyone’s meals looked yum.”

Sarah had Turkish eggs and drank an earl grey kombucha.  She said, “It was nice to be back in a trendy cafe that we knew would have good food. My Turkish eggs were yummy, they were just missing something to add to the flavour. The service was really good and I liked the vibe and the fit out of the space. To catch it on a sunny day was a treat!”
