THE PT CHEV BEACH CAFE

facebook.com/The-Pt-Chev-Beach-Cafe

Just 400 metres from the Pt. Chev beachfront is a newly renovated local café. And while this ain’t no Takapuna Beach Café with 180 degree views of the sea, it sure makes up for it with its very own Kapiti stall and trendy vibes. Revol ceramics dotted the scene amongst scandy furniture, the place warmed up with gold accents (like the metallic menu on a black felt letter-board, almost old-Hollywood-like) and communal benches in what seems like cow hide.
Service was speedy despite the chocker amount of people during lunch hour. Our wait-staff pointed out their house-made parmesan-mayo was delicious with their shoe-string fries…and he was right; we also loved the weighty cups of coffee with delicate latte-art swans. Next time we’re staying longer, then taking icecream cones away to lounge at the beach. Pt Chev, you spoil us so.

Louise had the Shaved Fennel and Apple Salad and a Flat White. She said “Cafe was pumping and sunny – great vibes. Always love a bit of fresh fennel and looked forward to the texture and contrast of cranberries and sweet pecan which were unfortunately swamped by the voluminous rocket, a wet dressing and parmesan mayo. Doh.”

Innie had the Eggs Benedict on Agria Rosti with Fresh Zucchini and Decaf Latte. She said “The Pt Chev Beach Cafe is rocking it! Such a great location! Saturday morning brunch and walk around Pt Chev Beach would be nice!”

Katie had the Buttermilk Fried Chicken Burger and a Half Strength Hazelnut Latte. She said “I loved that my latte came in a large and warm mug – the honey on the chicken was just right, ah – in food coma land…”

Joe had the Eggs Benedict on Agria Rosti with Bacon and a Homegrown Spirulina Juice. He said “The Smashed Avocado used overripe avocados, which left a bitter taste. Not ideal.”

Rebecca Had the Filo Tomato Tart and the Refresher Juice. She said “The filo tomato tart had a good flavour to it, the portion size a bit small, but overall happy with the experience.”
