FORAGE

foragecafe.co.nz

So we heard through the grapevine that Forage Café on Dominion Road had been crowned supreme winner of the Albert-Eden Business Awards 2016. Upon arrival we were greeted by super-friendly staff and a palette of warm pastels, quaint décor of woodland creatures and a light fixture hanging off what looked like a foraged branch. Their cabinet was stacked full of yummy salads, pides and focaccia fingers… and they weren’t your typical watered-down greens either — each had a plethora of succulent ingredients and seasoned to perfection. We later learned that the ‘foragers’ are advocates for animal welfare and sustainability by sourcing free-range ingredients and composting their green waste. We certainly need more environmentally-responsible businesses in this day and age; props to them!

A fellow foodie and cafe manager Nigel had the Warm Lamb Rissoles on Asian slaw and a Flat white. He said “This is a great little sustainable café, whose owners care about the planet and the people around them. It is cabinet food only, but the cabinet looks great. “

Louise had the Vege Galette with Asian Slaw and a Flat White. She said “Funky ladies with awesome hair running a popular cabinet food joint. Highly relational, great coffee, good chats. If we worked in Dominion Road, I imagine we would be locals.”

Innie had the Egg and Mushroom Wrap. She said “Good food at affordable price AND speedy!”

Katie had the Chicken Panini with Asian Slaw. She said “Great taste and value!”
