Truth be told, we were first drawn to this poultry eatery by the bold logo and quirky name — that's designer foodies for ya! It was hard not to feel cheery when walking into the space, jazzed up with splashes of red and white checkers, bright blue menus and wooden table-blocks painted yellow… If anybody else did this, it may have been a primary-colour-disaster, but it was tastefully done, right down to the kids' high chairs made and the little characters on the menu warning us of certain ‘naughty' items. Michael Van de Elzen and Marie Colosimo (the boy & bird duo #irl) certainly know how to tackle the ‘healthy fast food' trend, even keeping our resident vegetarian, Annie, happy. The only bad thing would probably be that our eyes were too big for our stomachs. We rolled out of the place swearing to come back for the Dutch Apple Doughnuts with salted caramel — ahh. Just you wait B&B, we'll live to die another day.
Louise had the cornflake chicken with mayo & the chilli satay chicken and a chocolate milk. She said 'The food was super tasty with great flavours though there was a reasonable delay in taking our order. Service, when it did come though, was accurate, efficient and warm. Cool branding. I will be back.'
Innie had the yummy fish (can't find it on the menu!) and a chocolate milk. She said 'Even though I didn't order chicken, I tasted some of the other dishes and it was cooked in the right way!'
Katie had the peanut seeded crust quarter chicken with potato chunks, gravy and coleslaw and a chocolate milk. She said 'Surprised that the chocolate milk was made with almond milk!'
Mel had the asparagus, fennel tarts with onion jam, danish feta, beetroot hummus starter and hot bird, black lentils, kumara, feta, peanuts, citrus & sultana salad. She said 'Love this place! Such yummy flavours and a very cool vibe.'
Joe had the quarter chicken box and a lemon soda. He said 'Cool vibe, good concept executed well.'
Annie had the chickpea cauli fritter hot roll with a side of courgettes, and a cranberry elderflower drink. She said 'New and interesting flavours to try, excellent combinations.'
