CHeese on toast

cheeseontoast.nz

Tucked away at the end of Mt Eden Road, behind a humble garage door, you’ll find Cheese on Toast—a cosy café that’s a haven for coffee enthusiasts and toastie lovers alike.

Their sourdough bread, lovingly made from scratch, is the star of the show and the reason why there’s always a crowd lining up. With a mouthwatering selection of around ten toast and toastie options, deciding what to order can be a dilemma.

And let’s not forget the coffee—it’s brewed to perfection and pairs wonderfully with their tempting cabinet treats like rich chocolate brownies and classic chocolate chip cookies. It’s the kind of place where every bite feels like a warm hug.

Total spend – 2 people – $54.80

Louise had half a creamed corn toastie and half a cheese and caramelised bacon jam toastie, she drank housemade passion, lime soda and a decaf mocha. She said, “My favourite part of the lunch was the signwriting on the wall. Oh the crispiness of the corn toastie, which was the winner of the two for me. Ambience and service are key for me and I found both fundamentally lacking. Front of house could do with a smile and the wall menu could do with any other font than comic sans #judgeydesignersareus.”

Sam had half a creamed corn toastie and half a cheese and caramelised bacon jam toastie, he drank 2 large mochas. He said, “Quick, easy and super yum. Really nice simple toasted sandwiches and the best mocha I’ve ever had. Had to get another on the way out.”
