HaRlan pepper
A long time local to Eden Terrace, Harlan Pepper was last reviewed by the Huskies in 2019 and it’s always been a consistently good place for a bite to eat. We were a little disappointed this time round though – it might have been an ‘off’ day in the kitchen, but it didn’t quite have that usual ‘wow, this is fab’ punch to it. Maybe we’re getting a little picky? However, the parking angels shone favourably upon us, the day was sunny and it was a Friday, so it was really hard to spoil our vibes on the patio where we sat enjoying the burgeoning summer rays. Harlan Pepper is advertised as “your friendly neighbourhood eatery” and the staff certainly make this true.
Mel had the Vietnamese Squid Salad and shared fries and drank a pineapple juice. She said “It was ‘ok’, not as good as the last few times I’ve been. Maybe I’m getting fussy but the food didn’t feel as awesome this time round. It wouldn’t stop me returning though, maybe just an off day for them.”
Sam had the Verona Omelette with a side of Salmon and drank a pineapple juice. He said “Great spot in the sun, it’s nice to be able to sit outside with a bit of a view.”
Sarah had the Tempura Fish Soft Shell Tacos and chunky fries. She said, “I had never been to this tucked away cafe and was told that it was not as good as usual on the day we visited. It was just ok with a limited menu, quite small portions and what you expect in terms of the flavours. Nice outdoor vibes if it’s sunny though, so a good spot if you need somewhere around Eden terrace to stop.”
Louise had the Vietnamese Squid Salad and drank an Iced Americano. She said “Unfortunately not up to the usual standard – squid was undercooked and over chewy though beautifully presented. Lovely to be sitting out in the sun though and service relaxed and chatty as always! x”
