KK MALAYSIAN CUISINE

http://www.kkmalaysia.co.nz/

We love our fusion eats which always combine exciting international cuisines with lush interiors and presentation — think White & Wongs, Simon & Lee and Ramen Takara. However… sometimes you just want something authentic and hearty like sitting in Aunty-Sarah-from-Malaysia’s kitchen as she whips you up huge plates of Nasi Lemak and green curry chicken, with stalks of lemongrass and kaffir-lime leaves still in the sauce. KK Malay is one of those places. Phil swears by this place as one of the best Malaysian eats around, and even the pickiest of oriental cuisine connoisseurs among us have given it the thumbs up. Don’t expect expert décor okay? This is literally those orange walls, plastic chairs, serve your own water in plastic jugs situations — but man, the food portions are huge. As with these restaurants we shared a bit of everything.

What we ordered:
Malaysian Deep-Fried Tofu
Curry Seafood Laksa Noodles
Nasi Goreng (Malaysian fried rice)
Fried Kuey Teow (Stir-Fried Flat Noodles with Beef)

Katie She said “The food was steaming hot and flavourful, in a food coma now.”

Mel She said “Such great flavours and huge serving sizes!”

Bri She said “Flavourful and filling dishes, really tasty. The deep fried tofu dish was amazing.”

Jeffrey He said “Seafood Laksa was amazing.”

Phil He said “KK Malay is all about the food and eating together. It’s not flash décor but it doesn’t need to be.”
