Superfly

superflynz.co.nz

Superfly is the newest kid on the Mt Eden block and we went to try it out a mere week after it opened its doors. Self proclaimed ‘70’s style diner with soul’ the place is vibrant to say the least – funky wall decals, sparkling neon and a fit out bursting with orange and purple are intense yet tastefully done. From the outset, staff were very friendly and welcoming and to the untrained eye, things seemed to be running smoothly for only 7 days into it.

In typical diner style, the food is generously proportioned – and could almost feel over the top –  big burgers and loaded waffles are a hit for size, but there are also lighter options for the less daring.. The fries on the side, classic shoestring, were nice, crisp and well salted and an impressive range of ice cream flavours nods to this joint being popular in summer.

In summary, we recommend this place for a good cheat day but if you’re keen on keto, healthy or a light lunch, then move on – this carb heaven may not be the place for you.

Louise had the Brekky Burger. She said “Awesome, fun and vibrant service staff, super delish burger – juicy and tasty. Loved the vibe – will be back!”

Mel had the Funky Chicken Burger and an apple juice. She said “Fun, bright, flavourful, and very funky. A great place to chill out and eat great food – you might need the sunglasses with the bright decor but I can see this place being very popular as the new guy in town!”

Jeffrey had the Patty Melt. He said, “The burger was pretty good, the double patty made for a big portion but the meat was a bit dry.”

Sarah  had the ‘B’ to the ‘L’ to the ‘T’ Bagel. She said “The look of the burgers was overwhelming for me so a bagel was easier to handle. Food was alright, pretty heavy on the cream cheese. Vibes were good plus super friendly service. ”
