Blue
Tucked just off the bustle of Franklin Road, Blue feels like the kind of place you stumble into once and then immediately pretend you’ve “been going for ages”. It’s small, chic and cosy in that effortlessly cool way, with the sort of warm welcome that makes you forget you’re only popping out for a quick bite. The asparagus and salmon plate was the star of the show, all fresh, delicate and somehow both fancy and comforting. A couple of us nearly ordered a second round, but decided to keep some shred of dignity intact. Pair that with a very good coffee and you’ve basically got lunchtime bliss, just 20m from home base. Ideal.
Mel’s pearl barley with fennel sausage was one of those dishes you’d never attempt at home but will happily brag about eating. Proper flavour bomb territory, unexpected in the best way and the perfect amount to keep you going without sending you into a food coma. Between the vibey little space, the friendly crew and the dangerously tempting idea of returning after dark to admire those candles, Blue is a hidden gem that might not stay so hidden now that we want to loudly recommend it to all!
