Sol’s Place
If you find yourself wandering down Ponsonby Road in need of a solid midday pick-me-up, Sol’s Place is exactly where you want to land. Tucked into the old Atomic/One2One space, it’s got this effortlessly cool, slightly boho feel – the kind of spot that feels like your mate’s living room, if your mate made a mean flat white and brunch to write home about.
What gives Sol’s Place its real charm is the story behind it. It’s named after its founder, Sol, and built around the idea of connection – food, music, people. You can feel that energy the moment you walk in. There’s always a good playlist running (or live music if you time it right on a Friday arvo), the staff are easygoing and chatty and the back courtyard often has a dog or two stretched out living their best life. Great for when our newest Husky arrives, little Pickle the pug will love it!
Food-wise, it’s a real win. We had 3 out 4 of us won over by their Hash Stack, super satisfying with its mediterranean flavours and generous portions. The menu’s broad too, so there’s no doubt we’ll be working our way through it in future visits… especially since it’s just a short stroll from our new studio. Lucky us.
Total spend – 4 people – $150.96
Louise hhad the Mushroom Madness and slurped an Americano. She said, “Felt wholesome, story-oriented and generally full of goodness. Love the brick vibes and an easy walk from our studio!”
Mel had the hash stack and drank an apple juice. She said, “Loved this place! Their awesome service is the first thing to be impressed with, super friendly and helpful. Beautiful, homely atmosphere, I really loved the brick and wood combos, the long church-like pews along the wall were super comfy too. My food was excellent, I don’t always expect amazing options for a gluten and dairy free diet, but today I could choose from two really great looking offerings. I was not disappointed either with the choice of the Hash Stack, delish!”
Sam had the hash stack. He said, “Lunch was great, the highlight was the mushrooms and hash browns. Really nice looking menu with lots to try.”
Sarah had the hash stack and drank a matcha latte. She said, “A great spot close to work, set in a beautiful old building with a super cool courtyard. The food is generous and delicious, with gluten-free and vegetarian options that make choosing easy. Friendly service and an amazing story behind the name. Overall great experience.”
