We went to this Kingsland eatery when it first opened last year, and since then it's become a house favourite for its authentic flavours and bang-for-your-buck goodness. This time the seven of us were seated in the sunny porch, patio heaters keeping the wintery chill at bay. The dishes came out steadily, albeit a bit on the slow side — some of us had to make a start before the food got cold or soggy. We passed the time chatting about the Animal Myers Briggs test (Mel is a dolphin!) and wondering if boxers came from… well, boxing people (turns out they do). Everyone ‘oohed' and ‘ahhed' at Emilie's pancake dish — a freshly fried roti stuffed with an over-easy egg, bananas and bacon, slathered with plenty of condensed milk and maple syrup on the side. We could eat this for breakfast, lunch AND dinner. Any day. Now even. Watch out world, little Farang is on a roll and showing no signs of stopping.
Louise had the pork & ginger noodle soup. She said "With only 2 staff and a small kitchen, Farang did manage to make magic (even if it took a while)! Service was laggy and staggered with 12-15 minutes between the first and last meal. However, soup was hot and tasty and the pork was 'melt in your mouth' good. Condiments just right. Sawadee ka!"
Innie had the chicken omelet and green smoothie. She said "Nice food. Nice portions."
Katie had the pulled pork burger and a feijoa honey smoothie with raspberries and banana. She said "Loved the fusion style and keen to come back to try out the other dishes :)"
Mel had the pork & ginger noodle soup and a beet smoothie. She said "Lovely spot, warm and hearty with the gorgeous asian flavours. Watch out if you don't like chilli, those flakes on the side are HOT!"
Joe had the big farang and a honey smoothie. He said "My favourite local on New North Road. Best smoothie I've had to date!"
Emilie had the pancake and a feijoa honey smoothie with raspberries and banana. She said "smiley, smiley :)"
