Crave café – the trusty neighbour down the road from Husk is our favourite ol' café haunt. Come client meetings or rainy day, you'll catch at least one of the huskies in there. Crave is run by a collective of like-minded foodies with a social streak, whereby all profits made go back to the community. Think street parties (with 2-metre pan paellas and bouncy castles), to care parcels for families in need, to christmas packages in December. The motto is to be “the good in the hood”, and the huskies are all for it. Now, just ‘cause we handled their rebrand doesn't necessarily mean we're biased, come and judge for yourself. Their menu ranges from hearty comfort food (chicken stroganoff) to options for the health conscious (hellooo black bean quesadilla)! Our sweet-tooth-critic Innie says their brioche french toast is to die for, and if you're feeling greedy, get a savoury main and pair it with a kid's version of the french toast, which is what we often do. No regrets, we promise.
Katie had the ethel - massive lashings of Crave's secret infused corned beef, covered in cauliflower cheese sauce on brioche w/sauerkraut salad and extra bacon. She said 'That brioche was amazing, an inch thick and balances out the salty corned beef nicely. Get this if you're hungry!'
Mel had the eggs benedict on potato cakes with manuka smoked bacon and a latte. She said 'What a treat to have this awesome café as our Husk 'local'. Great food, good vibes, amazing people. Always my 'go-to' café when I want somewhere to chill out and relax, knowing that I am supporting a place that has a heart for our neighbour hood!'
Joe had the rossmay and a berry smoothie. He said ' I'm quite a fan of maple bacon.'
Annie had the quesadilla and a berry shake. She said 'Lucky I love this place and the food is great, because once again Crave, there was more than 20 min between the first and last person served. I was the unlucky one and it was a bit of a bummer I didn't get to start until the others were nearly finished. I did enjoy it though.'
